KHAIRPUR?Prof Dr. Parveen Shah Vice Chancellor Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur hosted a Dinner in the honor of newly elected Executive Council of Shah Abdul Latif University Teachers Society (SALUTS) and Syndicate Members on Friday night at Visiting Professors Hostel. Prof Dr. Parveen Shah Vice Chancellor as host cordially welcomed to newly elected Executive Council of SALUTS and Syndicate Members. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor congratulated the newly elected body of SALUTS and said that they would play their due role in the development of the institution. Dr. Shah said that I believe in team work because it is a collective endeavor for the development of the institution. The ownership of the institution is vital because it creates sense of commitment and dedication. Dr. Shah appreciated the efforts of teachers who voluntarily engaged themselves for the conduct of second semester examinations during the holidays, it is their national sprit and dedication and commitment with the nation. LARKANA: Chief of Bhutto Sardar Aamir Khan Bhutto along with 500 notables of Bhutto community reached village Mirpur Bhutto and meeting with PML Nawaz Leader  Mumtaz Ali Bhutto and  announced to end ongoing differences between them and unite struggle for Bhutto community in sindh as well fight against the killers of Bhutto tribe.

The Bhutto community chief few weeks back Sardar Aamir Khan Bhutto had parted way from PPP and announced to support the Chairperson PPP Shaheed Bhutto Ghinwa Bhutto and its all candidates. It was clear message from him to PPP Leadership that support of Bhutto tribe is no more to present PPP and its leadership due ignoring Bhutto people.

Meanwhile, Sindh Taraqi Passand Party candidate for PS-36 Ahmed Nawaz Brohi announced to retire in favor of PML F Candidate for PS-36 Nazir Ahmed Shaikh, besides hundreds people of deferent communities extended their full support to PML Functional candidates.

Divisional President PML Functional Syed Akbar Rashidi along with nominated candidate for PML-F at NA-204 Mehtab Akbar Rashidi and former Taluka Nazim Nazir Ahmed Shaikh candidate for PS-36 visited Resham Gali and met with traders to garner their support and vote for the PML-F candidates.

Addressing PML F leaders said that previous PPP government misused the billions rupees allocated for the development of Larkana, the city has been ruined on the pretext of development added that rulers destructed the home district of Shaheed Zulifqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed B        enazir Bhutto and misused the public mandate.

They said that if PML F came into power it would develop the larkana city and beautify its all entry exit points.

They hoped that masses will vote to Flower a symbol of  PML F and elect the PML F candidates on 11 May 2013.

Addressing different corner meetings candidate for NA 204 and PS 41 Mehtab Akbar Rashidi said that women folk have always  played  pivotal role in development of country   but during the previous PPP government, poor women for Rs 1000 stipend  were humiliated at BISP centers, several women lost their lives and children for provision of stipend due to inefficiency of rulers, adding that PML F respects the women and struggle to empower the women in society for their rights.

She said that masses are well aware about the PPP rulers who always garner their sympathy vote from the women and men but after coming into power they deviate from their commitment and promises.Mehtab Akbar Rashidi said that women are well aware about their rights and future of their coming generation and they will not vote to such traitors who increased the inflation, poverty and other crises, she hoped that women will elect her on 11 May 2013 by casting their vote to flower symbol.

KHAIRPUR: A meeting of Prospectus Committee 2014 was held at Vice Chancellor Secretariat Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. Prof Dr. Lutufullah Mangi Director Shikarpur Campus and Convener of cited committee presided over the meeting. The committee members p:roposed that a comprehensive and joint/uniform prospectus may be drafted and published for the convenience of students based on complete information. The prospectus may contain University profile, courses offered, fees structure, eligibility criteria for seeking admissions and semester rules etc. The next meeting of the prospectus committee will be convened on 07th May, in which first draft of the prospectus would be submitted for further discussion. KHAIRPUR: One-Day Lecture was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair (SBBC). The lecture was delivered by Dr. Syed Mahmood Ali Shah Professor Emeritus University of Baluchistan, Quetta on “Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto: as I Know Him”. At the outset the Director of SBBC Prof Dr. Amir Ahmed Khuhro presented his welcome address and highlighted the objectives of establishment of the Chair at University. Dr. Mahmood Shah in his lecture remarked that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto redirected the Foreign Policy of Pakistan. He maintained good links with Muslim World and China. Z.A Bhutto was architect of the concept of Bilateralism. Dr. Shah said that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was the pioneer of atomic program of Pakistan. The effective land reforms policy was initiated during his tenure, the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), Release of prisoners of war 1971 goes to his credit. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto provided a viable platform for democracy. He loved to peasant and labors, Dr. Shah elaborated that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto played the dynamic role in the United Nation’s forum, on account of his democratic policies the reactionary forces were against his policies. The large number of teachers and students attended the seminar.

LARKANA: The miscreants blown up Sui Gas main pipeline near Rasheed Wagan Larkana, which the supply of gas was suspended for 24 hours, Sindhu Desh Revolutionary Army claimed the responsibility of blast.

According to the reports, some of the miscreants planted 7.5 kg explosive material, which exploded early Wednesday morning at 5:45. The main pipeline damaged about 40 ft. wide, the flames were witnessed by the several people and villagers, they also informed the police. It was 18 inch main supply from Sui Baluchistan to Karachi via Shikarpur-Larkana.

After the blast the supply of Sui Gas was disrupted in Larkana, Kamber-Shahdadkot, Dadu, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and several districts of Sindh province, while on the occasion, revolutionary separatist Sindhu Desh Revolutionery Army spread their pamphlets in city and local Press Club and claimed the responsibility to explode the main pipeline said the sources.

The officials among Technial Engineer and In charge Sui Gas Transmission line Ghazi Anwer told reached at the village Niaz Hussian Brohi near Rasheed Wagan police jurisdiction some 30 km from Larkana.

LARKANA: Speaker Sindh Assembly and candidate for PS-36 Nisar Ahmed Khuhro infuriated over the questions of media men about the public reaction during the press conference here at his residence on Wednesday.

Khuhro, annoyed over the newsmen and said that he is an optimistic about his party, defending due to the decisions  made unanimously by the party  to ask the former PPP stalwart to withdraw their positions as independent candidates along with family members.

He could not convince the media questions about the performance of 5 years government and over the public reactions, he said the May 11, He also said that they will bring their 5 year performance before the masses court, which will decide the fate of candidates of PPP and their rivals.

He said the Tehreek Nifaz Fiqa-e- Jafria has announced to support PPP and few members of Pakistan Muslim League Functional and candidate Lala Asghar Ali joined PPP he said.

To a question about the prevailing law and order situation, regarding increasing threats to the PPP allies including MQM and ANP by terrorist attacks, he said the liberal organizations among PPP have also severe threats during election campaing, but they will continue their struggle to face terrorism.

Nisar said they have perfrormed well in 5 year term smoothly, led a peacefull and transaction of power, added that during the insecurity and terrorist activities the transactios of institutions have been continued to the objectives he said. He also said that the official judiciary was taunting/suppressing the democratic instituions but the government made it to the objective as the election commission is an indenepdent institution, which never been in the past even under the artilcles of 62 and 63, we were also face difficulties regarding the contesting candidates he said.

SUKKUR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) local leader and candidate for PS 2 Abdul Ghani Khoso, on Tuesday announced his decision to part ways with the party over internal differences and join the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

He took this decision in the presences of former Federal Minster Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah and PPP candidates for PS 2 Syed Nasir Hussain Shah here at Khosa House.

He had contested the 2008 elections from the constituency as an independent candidate and later joined JUI-F.

Talking to reporters Abdul Ghani Khoso said cracks have developed within JUI-F’s ranks in Sukkur following the seat adjustment agreement with various parties of the Sindh.

SUKKUR: Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (Retired) Zahid Qurban Alvi has said that to ensure safety and security to the all the polling stations on the occasion of election, necessary measures would be taken on the occasion of election. He said it would be an achievement of the caretaker government of holding the elections on 11th May. He said that special attention was being giving on monitoring, control of law and order and the security what can be as possible would be provided. He was confident that the election process would be completed in better way.

He said this while talking to the journalists on his arrival at Sukkur airport on Tuesday. He said that the aim of his visit was get complete information about problems which he would inform to the caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso on his visit of Karachi. He said that the provincial Election Commissioner would be contacted and share with him information about their steps in regard of election process.

He said that he has no report about any expected untoward incident on Election Day adding that the caretaker government was taking all out efforts for holding the elections and he was personally monitoring the law and order situation. He said that he was holding meetings with different parties.

Later, a meeting was chaired by the caretaker Sindh Chief Minister at Circuit House Sukkur which was attended by the leaders of different political and others parties including Pakistan Muslim League (F), Jamaat Islami, Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, Jamiat Ulema Islam (F), Mutahida Qaumi Movement, and other parties.

The meeting was also attended by caretaker minister for information Noor-Ul-Huda Shah and caretaker minister for special education Muhammad Zikria Gondal, Commissioner Sukkur division Dr. Niaz Abbasi, SSP Sukkur Irfan Baloch and others.

SUKKUR: The seven transgender candidates contesting the elections out of 23,000 candidates have little chance of getting elected, but they have livened up an otherwise lacklustre campaign.

“People don’t believe we can be corrupt because we don’t have children and families,” says independent candidate Sanam Faqeer in Sukkur. “We don’t need to collect wealth and build villas for our next generations by stealing people’s money as other politicians do.”

When the Supreme Court in 2009 recognised them as a ‘third gender’, ordering they be issued separate identity cards, it was hailed as a landmark decision. Now Faqeer has given up dancing to focus on campaigning for the May 11 polls, saying that the world of politics is more serious.

“My aim is to give justice to the poor, welfare to the old, promote meritocracy and the lives of cleaners and remove unemployment. Once elected, I will make my city cleaner and end the traffic chaos,” she said in her office.

Born in 1975 as Essa Gul, the son of a radical prayer leader, she has overcome immense personal pain. Her strict father kept his children at home to be taught only the Quran and she was bullied by her brothers for ‘girlish’ tendencies. After her father died, her brothers forced her out when she was only 15 and she was taken under the wing of a prominent member of the transgender community.

She changed her name, grew out her hair, dressed permanently as a woman and spent the next decade dancing and working as a prostitute. She became popular and earned good money, but her ambitions spread wider.

She invested in a textiles business and started supplying bed sheets and ladies clothes door to door, allowing her to make new contacts in the city. Then she branched out into welfare, providing care to elderly eunuchs and registered her own charity in 2009.

Today, her two-room apartment serves as a home, an institute offering transgender people computer training and therefore the prospect of more respectable work, the headquarters of her charity and as a campaign hub.

Having won the hearts of Sukkur’s transgender community and hundreds of poor people, she says her community asked her to contest the elections.
