KHAIRPUR?Prof Dr. Parveen Shah Vice Chancellor Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur hosted a Dinner in the honor of newly elected Executive Council of Shah Abdul Latif University Teachers Society (SALUTS) and Syndicate Members on Friday night at Visiting Professors Hostel. Prof Dr. Parveen Shah Vice Chancellor as host cordially welcomed to newly elected Executive Council of SALUTS and Syndicate Members. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor congratulated the newly elected body of SALUTS and said that they would play their due role in the development of the institution. Dr. Shah said that I believe in team work because it is a collective endeavor for the development of the institution. The ownership of the institution is vital because it creates sense of commitment and dedication. Dr. Shah appreciated the efforts of teachers who voluntarily engaged themselves for the conduct of second semester examinations during the holidays, it is their national sprit and dedication and commitment with the nation. Vice Chancellor assured the office bearers of SALUTS that the genuine problems of teaching community would be resolved on top priority basis. Prof Dr. Ghulam Sarwar Markhand President SALUTS extended his cordial thanks to Vice Chancellor for resolving the teachers problems on her top priority basis. Dr. Markhand requested the Vice Chancellor that the next promotion/appointment of teachers may be made at earliest. Dr. Parveen Shah assured the President SALUTS that the selection board will be called very soon. On this occasion, Syed Asad Raza Abidi General Secretary SALUTS said that since the taking over the charge of Vice Chancellor, Dr. Parveen Shah has solved the long delayed problems of the teachers, officers and employees i.e Leave Encashment, Calling of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC), Promotions of the Officers, Opening of Institute of Gender Studies, Establishment of Alumni Association, holding of Two International Conferences, large number of Local and National Seminars, Lecture Programs and Training Workshop etc are on her credit. KHAIRPUR: A meeting of Prospectus Committee 2014 was held at Vice Chancellor Secretariat Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. Prof Dr. Lutufullah Mangi Director Shikarpur Campus and Convener of cited committee presided over the meeting. The committee members p:roposed that a comprehensive and joint/uniform prospectus may be drafted and published for the convenience of students based on complete information. The prospectus may contain University profile, courses offered, fees structure, eligibility criteria for seeking admissions and semester rules etc. The next meeting of the prospectus committee will be convened on 07th May, in which first draft of the prospectus would be submitted for further discussion. KHAIRPUR: One-Day Lecture was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair (SBBC). The lecture was delivered by Dr. Syed Mahmood Ali Shah Professor Emeritus University of Baluchistan, Quetta on “Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto: as I Know Him”. At the outset the Director of SBBC Prof Dr. Amir Ahmed Khuhro presented his welcome address and highlighted the objectives of establishment of the Chair at University. Dr. Mahmood Shah in his lecture remarked that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto redirected the Foreign Policy of Pakistan. He maintained good links with Muslim World and China. Z.A Bhutto was architect of the concept of Bilateralism. Dr. Shah said that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was the pioneer of atomic program of Pakistan. The effective land reforms policy was initiated during his tenure, the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), Release of prisoners of war 1971 goes to his credit. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto provided a viable platform for democracy. He loved to peasant and labors, Dr. Shah elaborated that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto played the dynamic role in the United Nation’s forum, on account of his democratic policies the reactionary forces were against his policies. The large number of teachers and students attended the seminar.

KHAIRPUR: A Cheque distribution ceremony of Higher Education Commissions; Islamabad and Japan Need Based Scholarship was held at Senate Hall of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.  Prof Dr. Parveen Shah the Vice Chancellor Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur distributed the cheques among 60 students of different departments. The scholarships of Rs. 936,000 were awarded to 38 students by Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, while, the scholarships of Rs. 203, 0000 were awarded to 22 students by Japan Need Based Scholarship. Prof Dr. Ishfaque Ahmed Memon Focal Person of Japan Need Based scholarship briefed the procedure adopted by the committee to award the scholarships. On the occasion Prof Dr. Parveen Shah said that “the role of student is a model in any society. They can bring awareness in the society against illiteracy and social evils”. On the occasion, Prof Dr. Parveen Shah the Vice Chancellor advised the cheques recipient students to work hard for the academic pursuit and they are ambassador of the nation. Future responsibility lies on their shoulders. Dr. Parveen Shah also lauded the role of Higher Education Commission, Islamabad and Japan Need Based Scholarship for this noble cause. The Vice Chancellor also expressed that the 6000 scholarship will be given to the students of social sciences by Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. KHAIRPUR: The Registrar Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur has announced the admissions schedule in the Department of Business Administration for BBA Morning & Evening (four year program) and MBA Morning (3 ½ program) for academic year 2012-13. The admission forms can be obtained from 1st November and submitted up to 1st December 2012 from designated branches of Habib Bank Limited by the payment of Rs. 1000/=. The aptitude test for MBA will be held on 14th December, while the aptitude test for BBA will be held on 15th December 2012. The classes of new session will be start from 28th January 2013.

KHAIRPUR: The 7th Four-Day Training of Trainers (ToT) Workshop on the topic of “Effective Test Item Construction Techniques” organized by Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, Islamabad and NTS will be held from tomorrow 18th October 2012 to 21st October 2012. Director Quality Enhancement Cell, Prof Dr. Abdul Razzaque Mahar has informed that about 20 faculty members from various public sector universities of Sindh will participate in the workshop. Prof Dr. Parveen Shah the Vice Chancellor will inaugurate the Workshop.

KHAIRPUR: Prof Dr. Parveen Shah the Vice Chancellor Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur visited the Shikarpur Campus. Vice Chancellor also met with students and reviewed campus damages by heavy rainfall. On this occasion, Prof Dr. Ghulam Raza Bhatti Pro-Vice Chancellor Shikarpur Campus briefed Vice Chancellor about educational and development activities and up coming projects of Shikarpur campus. Dr. Parveen Shah also planted the plant of Alstonia at Campus. Earlier, Dr. Parveen Shah visited the Class Rooms, Computer Lab and Central Library of Campus and discussed students about their education. Speaking on this occasion, Prof Dr. Parveen Shah said that the all problems of society (i.e) Illiteracy, Terrorism, sectarianism can be eliminate by the help of education. The country can be developed by the education, without education the any nation can not be dominent. Education is must for every one. Dr. Perveen Shah reiterated that the efforts will be continued for the development of Shikarpur Campus.

KHAIRPUR– MNA Syeda Nafeesa Shah has said that  PPP-led government sustained several conspiracies of the opposition and is capable to continue doing so. She said it is the PPPP-led government’s prime object to continue reconciliation policy  While talking to APP on Tuesday, she said that PPP government was pursuing its reconciliation policy to strengthen the democratic institutions of the country and making improvements in common man’s life. She said that  PPP is a party of labourers and workers and has always devised policies to protect their rights. He said the government has increased 125 percent salaries of the employees during last four years which is a record adding that  government inherited complex problems, however the government has been working with dedication to overcome these problems.

Reply to question, she said  Nawaz Sharif only talks about Punjab, but the PPP talks about the whole country. He asked why Nawaz Sharif closed Thar Coal and Keti Bandar projects in 1997. He said the Thar project would benefit the whole country. Ms Shah said there were several well wishers of Sindh, but they just speak from their bungalows while, she added, the PPP leaders come on the roads and resolve issues of the masses.

Nafeesa Shah, who is also chairperson of the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) said that continuity of democracy is vital for prosperity of the country and getting prominent position among the international community.

Paying tribute to PPP workers, she said those people should be remembered who sacrificed for the cause of democracy and vision of ZAB Shaheed.

She said the PPP was the name of a passion and movement whose workers had set examples of sacrifices, adding the PPP had never practiced the politics of power as it always remained in power even it was in the opposition. Ms Shah said that no one should bother to teach Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) how to safeguard the rights of Sindh because it had been doing the same since the day the party was created. “The opponents are afraid of the deep love and following the PPP has among the people of Sindh ,” she said.
